Dubai has been a hugely popular travel destination for many years, even before it was one of the few safe places to travel to in 2021!
With reasonably priced flights from Europe, tons of things to do and excellent weather (provided you like it hot 🥵), it’s the perfect winter sun destination.
If you’re escaping the cold and heading to spend a few days in the UAE, keep reading for our top recommendations to spend a weekend in Dubai 🇦🇪
Top travel tip: the weekend in Dubai is Friday and Saturday, which means some businesses close or operate on reduced hours on these days. Keep that in mind when you book your weekend in Dubai!
Start with breakfast and a view… or should we say, THE view. As the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa offers some of the best panoramic views of Dubai. It’s definitely a must-visit place in the city and a great spot to kick off your weekend in Dubai.
Begin your first day with a luxurious breakfast at At.Mosphere at the Burj Khalifa. Located on the 122nd floor of the iconic skyscraper, it’s the world’s highest restaurant. The indulgent food and breathtaking views make this an unmissable treat. And we always love a bird’s eye view of a city from a rooftop before getting down to explore it! 📸
Continue the first part of your weekend in Dubai in the area around the Burj Khalifa. The Dubai Mall – the largest shopping center in the world – is located right next door. Although, considering the size of it, that still might mean a 15-minute walk!
This paradise for shopping lovers is equally entertaining for those with an aversion to retail therapy. There’s an Olympic-sized ice skating rink, an enormous cinema, a genuine dinosaur fossil, the world’s largest indoor theme park and an award-winning aquarium, amongst other mind-boggling attractions. The size, luxury and abundance of activities make it a quintessential Dubai experience. And believe us, the air con will be very welcome! 🌞
Finish off your first day in Dubai watching the largest choreographed water show in the world. One of our favorite places to watch the spectacular Dubai Fountain Show is at the Zeta Restaurant. Delicious food, great cocktails and a vibrant atmosphere mean you’ll want to stay long after the dancing fountain show is over.
You’ll be very grateful for a luxurious bed at one of Dubai’s many excellent hotels by the end of your first day. Whether you’re after a lofty room in one of the city’s many skyscrapers, or a relaxing spa resort in the desert, you’ll find it in Dubai.
As you’re probably aware, the awe-inspiring metropolis that is the Dubai we know today sprung from the desert in the space of several decades. The ultra-modern city is packed full of fun to entertain you for much more than a weekend in Dubai. But make no mistake, there’s plenty of tradition to experience on your weekend in Dubai as well.
Start day two of your Dubai trip at the Arabian Tea House in Dubai’s historic quarter, Al Fahidi. This enchanting spot embodies Emirati hospitality and welcomes guests into the prettiest flower-filled café you can imagine. Prepare yourself for a mouth-watering feast of Middle Eastern delicacies just like Grandma would make them!
If you’ve got time while you’re in the area, make sure to visit the impressive exhibitions at the XVA Art Hotel’s gallery and take a boat ride across Dubai Creek to visit the incredible traditional souks across the water.
Then go make the most of the wild, beautiful expanse of desert that surrounds Dubai. Tour agencies like Al Khayma organize desert adventures that will really make your weekend in Dubai unforgettable. Sandboarding, 4×4 safaris over the Red Dunes, meeting camels and even sunset BBQs in a desert camp… 🐫
If you can’t get enough of the desert, why not truly immerse yourself in Dubai’s natural landscapes by staying out there? Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa is highly recommended for a tranquil, authentic feeling desert escape with every spa luxury your heart could desire!
After all the excitement of your fun-filled weekend in Dubai, you’ll definitely deserve a beach day. Relax with cocktails as you gaze at the turquoise sea from the soft white sand at Cove Beach Caesars Palace, located near the ultra-luxurious Dubai Marina and Palm Jumeirah.
And of course, it wouldn’t be a weekend in Dubai without a trip to the Palm. As well as being home to luxury resorts, a gigantic water park and legendary restaurants, the unique palm tree shape of this collection of manmade islands is reason enough to visit.
Dubai is known for having countless concept restaurants serving exquisite global cuisine, so dinner on your last day will be unforgettable wherever you eat. But we definitely recommend booking in at Ossiano for a truly immersive experience. No, literally. It’s an underwater restaurant where you’ll watch magnificent sea creatures swim past you as you indulge in some of the best seafood in Dubai.
For the finishing touch on your weekend in Dubai, enjoy a final drink at The Penthouse Rooftop Day Club & Evening Lounge. These views will have you booking your trip right back to this incredible city!
