Where to stay in Dubai to sleep like a Sheikh

Dubai is a destination renowned for its luxury and opulence, and its many lavish hotels certainly reflect this. Which is why it can be hard to choose where to stay in Dubai! Luckily for you, we’ve compiled a list of the top places to stay in the city to sleep like a Sheikh 😉

When five stars aren’t enough

Stay at the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah. It wouldn’t be an article about where to stay in Dubai without a mention of the iconic seven-star hotel. The unique hotel, designed to look like the sail of a yacht, lives up to its luxury reputation. Home to one of the most expensive hotel rooms in the world, several innovative restaurants – pick from panoramic city views or an underwater dining experience – and a fleet of bespoke Rolls Royces to shuttle guests around. That’s if you’re not arriving by helicopter, of course 🚁

When you want exclusivity

Stay at the One&Only resorts. Well, there are two of them in Dubai, but that doesn’t make them any less unique. For pure opulence at a secluded sanctuary, The Palm is the place to go. An intimate oasis on the Palm Island, you can enjoy the tranquil spa, food by a Michelin-starred chef and a private beach with views of Dubai. What more could you want? 🌴

Then again, if you’re of the “go big or go home” mentality, the Royal Mirage may well be the One&Only resort for you. Set in 65 acres of lush gardens with a kilometer-long private beach, the luxury hotel feels like an Arabian palace in design and hospitality. The traditional architecture provides a unique contrast and a peaceful escape that feels a world away from the modern skyscrapers behind it.

When the desert is calling you

Sometimes the hustle and bustle of the ultra-modern city get a little too much and you feel like escaping somewhere wilder. If you’re wondering where to stay in Dubai to make the most of the metropolis and the beautiful desert that surrounds it, look no further than the Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa. Located just outside of the city, it feels like an authentic desert retreat without skipping the luxury and opulence for which Dubai is known. The perfect compromise!

When you want to sleep like a Pharaoh

OK, so you may be in the land of Sheiks, but that’s no reason you shouldn’t embrace other cultures too. Like, for example, that of ancient Egypt. Yep, we’re talking about the landmark pyramid that is home to Raffles Dubai. Home to some of the largest rooms in Dubai, the hotel’s marble, gold and burgundy décor makes your stay feel like a truly regal affair.

…or a Maharaja

Alternatively, immerse yourself in the rich Indian-inspired architecture and décor of the Taj Dubai. Your room may feel like you’re staying in a Maharajah’s opulent home but you’ll be quickly planted back in Dubai as you gaze at views of the Burj Khalifa from your window. Even if you don’t stay here, make sure to visit its impressive restaurants. From cocktails at the chic Treehouse terrace bar to the highly recommended breakfast buffet at the Tesoro restaurant, you’ll be dining like a royal 👑

When you need your hotel to match your outfit

Designers don’t just do clothes, bags and watches anymore. Naturally, their impeccable taste and beautiful style has given birth to a whole collection of designer hotels. And many of them can be found in Dubai. So when you need your room to be as aesthetically pleasing as your outfit, book yourself in at one of these iconic hotels.

If you’re looking for a luxurious 16th century Italian villa in the UAE, the Palazzo Versace Dubai is the place for you. In signature Versace style, the hotel is a far cry from the understated neutrals of the city’s other resorts. Roman-style mosaics, grand columns and Versace furnishings make for a unique designer experience.

For high-tech, contemporary luxury, book your room at the Armani Hotel. Located in the Burj Khalifa, it’s Giorgio Armani’s first foray into hotels – not that you can tell. Everything is as chic as you’d expect, from the world-class spa to the room service trollies. Top tip: the Fountain Suites offer unparalleled views of the world-renowned Dubai Fountain Show.

Crowned by striking coral-inspired latticework, the Bvlgari Resort Dubai is located on its own seahorse-shaped island comprising both an ultra-quiet beach and a vibrant marina. The real joy here is the spa though. Ice fountains, a traditional hammam and a pool lined with real gold tiles. We weren’t lying when we said you’d feel like a Sheikh!

When you can’t get enough art

In complete contrast to the palatial resorts we’ve recommended in this article, is an intimate boutique hotel with just thirteen rooms. Located in the Al Fahidi Historical District, in the former home of a family of world-famous watch dealers, is the XVA Art Hotel. This unique stay is perfect for art lovers wanting a taste of the traditional and authentic: there’s even an on-site art gallery featuring established and emerging Middle Eastern contemporary artists.
