Lisbon - TWISPER destination guide
The experience guide to

A sea of terracotta roofs, a labyrinth of steep, cobbled alleyways, intricate gothic architecture, a landmark bridge over the Rio Tejo… you could happily visit Lisbon for the picture-perfect views alone. But the Portuguese capital’s got many more hidden gems to offer, from culture to cuisine.

The best way to experience Lisbon? On foot and by tram, stopping to admire the views from the many miradouros, or viewpoints, along the way. You’ll have calves of steel by the time you’ve conquered the hill up to the ancient São Jorge Castle, but you’ll also have a camera roll full of spectacular snaps.

Lisbon is home to several different neighborhoods with their own individual charms and unique experiences. Stroll around Alfama for a rainbow of azulejo-tiled buildings. Explore Belém for its monuments and its pastries; head to Bairro Alto for the nightlife; Chiado and Baixa for shopping and a lift up to the top of Santa Justa Elevator to save your legs. Keep your eyes peeled for street art throughout your trip – Lisbon is renowned for it.
